Chai Wah in her new salon, Bodyhaven Beauty

Jill Silverthorne Programme Area Leader for Beauty, was delighted to receive the following letter from a former student.

Dear Jill Silverthorne,
I hope you are doing well. This is just to update you on our new beauty salon.
My sister and I ( Chi Wah and Abby ) attended Hastings College in 2008-09 to do Beauty level 2 and 3.
After we qualified, I worked at Kalmora Spa in Kent and Abby worked in Rye Retreat for about two years.
Then I decided to leave my job and open my own Beauty Salon in Newhaven (called Bodyhaven Beauty and Skincare). It took about a year for the planning permission to convert the shop to be approved, and I was very excited about this new and challenging project.
After the great success of the opening day, business has been steadily improving.
I would like to say thank you for providing me with inspiration, when I did the 'Business Plan' project in level 3, it really helped me to understand the skills needed to run the business. I'm really glad that we opened our first salon and hopefully you can come and visit soon.
