Staff Star Awards 2011

Superstar staff were recognised for their work at the awards ceremony in the atrium on Friday 9th December. The Star Awards are held annually to celebrate the work of college staff that have made an outstanding contribution to the workplace, often behind-the-scenes.

Students prepared and served a three course meal including choices of Tartlet of Roast Peppers, Tapenade, Rocket & Balsamic Glaze for starter followed by Traditional Roast Turkey with Roasted Potatoes, Jus Roti and accompaniments. The meal was completed with three scrumptious desserts Mince pie and ice cream, Chocolate Torte and Vacharln de Fruits.

Janak Patel, Principal, said ‘There are over 300 staff at SCCH and they are all chosen for their professionalism, expertise and commitment to our College vision: ‘Inspiring Futures and Changing Lives’. Some of them do this in the classroom, whilst others work in support roles, making sure things run smoothly and effectively. The Star Awards winners are nominated by their colleagues, often because they are ‘unsung heroes’, working tirelessly and diligently to provide support to students and work-mates'.

Library helps others 'Survive Christmas'
April Carrol has officially opened the Library's 'Christmas Lounge' at Station Plaza.
The lounge is an area where readers can enjoy Christmassy books and read fact sheets about Charles Dickens. To foster the Christmas spirit, the Library at Station Plaza will host Christmas quizzes, and a coffee morning on 7 December. They will also be selling handmade Christmas cards and stockings and both libraries will be collecting food donations. Proceeds will go towards Surviving Christmas, a local charity set up to help vulnerable families in Hastings and Bexhill over Christmas.
