Employment in the uniformed public services demands a broad range of skills and qualifications. The level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma is designed to give a good understanding of public service careers and to develop the skills you’ll need. The course covers team leadership, citizenship, contemporary society, discipline, diversity, physical fitness, international perspectives and planning for/management of major incidents, and combines practice and theory in the gym, the sports hall and the classroom. You will be taught by experienced public servants with strong links to the police, army and RAF, and the curriculum includes trips such as Army Experience Day, in-house workshops led by service representatives, plus a chance to complete the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to bronze and silver level as an enrichment option.

What do I need?

Five GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths or an appropriate level 2 qualification. Satisfactory completion of your existing studies.

How will I be assessed?

Through a range of practical and coursework assignments.

What will I learn?

Interpersonal, expedition and teamwork skills, alongside a good knowledge of the uniformed public services.
