The sport and leisure industry offers countless opportunities: you could become a coach, fitness instructor, youth worker, outdoor educator or be involved in organising and leading sports events. The Level 2 BTEC Diploma in Sport aims to increase your grasp of how the sports industry and active leisure businesses are run, as well as the science behind sport and how to assess and respond to customers’ fitness needs. The course also ensures you have the right English, Maths and ICT skills for the workplace. As well as putting learning into practice in our leading-edge gym and at Horntye Park Sports Complex, you’ll benefit from links with sports and leisure businesses to get an up-close understanding of the sector through visits, observations, interviews, guest speakers and work shadowing.

What do I need?

Two grade Ds in English and Maths and two grade Es at GCSE or relevant level 1 qualification. Satisfactory completion of your existing studies.

How will I be assessed?

Through a range of practical and coursework assignments.

What will I learn?

A range of sport disciplines and business skills.

What are my career opportunities?

Employers will value the level of experience you gain on the course: look for opportunities as a sports coach, recreation assistant, fitness instructor, community sports worker, or in sports development, activity leadership or lifeguarding.
