A Level Physics

PDF

Course code: 1384
Course type: Full time
Duration: 2 years*
Level: 3
Site: Station Plaza
Start date: September 2012

Physics is crucial to understanding the world around us, inside us and beyond us. Physicists are fascinated by how things work, in every detail and at the deepest level – analysing everything from elementary particles and living cells to solids, liquids, gases, plasmas, the human brain, complex systems, supercomputers, the atmosphere, planets, stars, galaxies and the universe itself. Physics underpins recent technological developments that have revolutionised our world, such as mobile phones, lasers, the internet and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). A level Physics will enable you to study physical theory while remaining mindful of the ‘real-life’ context for each area of study. You will also develop practical and investigative skills, and compare these to how scientists work in current research contexts.

How will I be assessed?

Through a series of regular tests, homework and feedback from your teacher.

What will I learn?

Physical theory and the ‘real-life’ context for each area of study, plus practical and investigative skills.

What are my career opportunities?

A qualification in Physics can lead to a wide variety of career opportunities, including engineering, electronics, medical
physics, space technology, climate and renewable energy research, nanotechnology, astrophysics, and many, many more.

Further Study?

Higher Education, then many careers including, medicine, engineering, industry and astrophysics.

Are there any extra costs?

There are no extra costs associated with this subject.
