For those who love the diversity of our language in all its forms and have a passion for the power of the written word, A level English Language and Literature offers the best of everything. The course will enable you to explore rich examples of written English – both in literary and media texts – to reflect on character and context, and to appreciate the  techniques used by writers to provoke a response. You will also examine examples of spoken English to consider the distinctive features of speech and how it contrasts with written language. The literary aspects of the course will broaden your perspective on culture, history and humanity, while both literature and language will enhance your creative abilities – giving you the chance to sharpen your writing skills and gain a significant advantage in a broad range of careers.
