How could communism have been popular? What caused the conflicts in the Middle East? Why do we still have a monarchy and other countries don’t? If you are interested in finding in-depth answers to questions like these – by examining the past and the perspective it throws on subsequent events – A level History is for you. The course will train you to select relevant information and analyse and interpret it in context. We offer two history courses: Early and Modern. In Early History, your studies of British and European history will include coursework on medieval medicine and the links between Western and Middle Eastern cultures. Modern History looks closely at British, European and world history in the 20th century, and includes coursework on the Middle East and the Arab-Israeli question.
