Who was Odysseus? Why was there conflict at Troy? What were the reasons for the Roman invasion of Britain? How good were Greek Historians?  If you are interested in finding in-depth answers to questions like these – by examining the past and the perspective it throws on subsequent events – A level Classical Civilisations is for you. The course will train you to select relevant information and analyse and interpret it in context. The course that we offer examines units of literature such as the Odyssey, in Year 1. In Year 2 the focus shifts to the Aeneid and the Iliad. In history we look at the work of Herodotus, Plutarch and Thucydides in Year 1 and the history of Roman Britain in Year 2.
