With more than 50,000 hair and beauty businesses in the UK, there are excellent opportunities for employment or self-employment wherever you live. The NVQ1 Diploma in Hairdressing & Beauty gives you a great headstart, providing an introduction to the various skills needed to be a hairdresser. You will look at how to assist as well as carry out treatments including blow-drying, plaiting and twisting hair. You will also explore other services that complement the hairdressing treatments such as make-up and nail services. The course develops your skills in teamwork and self-management, and you will put your learning into practice in our salon, which is open to staff and the general public. You will also develop your functional skills in English and Maths, to enable you to progress to Level 2 courses.
