Hairdressing services are always in demand, with openings for stylists in a range of sectors – whether it’s self-employment, one of the UK’s 39,000 salons or freelancing in the media. On our VRQ level 2 Hairdressing course, industry professionals will teach you skills in shampooing, conditioning, styling, cutting, perming and colouring, and you will BE GIVEN the opportunity to serve paying clients in the College’s own Wella Centre of Excellence salons, giving you excellent customer service and teamwork experience. You will create your own style portfolio, develop your ideas with a visit to a professional show, and showcase your skills at the College’s annual Hair & Beauty show.

What do I need?

Grade C in English and Maths and a mixture of GCSE grades E to G or relevant Level 1 qualification.

How will I be assessed?

You are continually assessed from the start, gathering practical and oral evidence, working on case studies and projects that lead to end-of-unit exams.

What will I learn?

You will learn all the basic skills required to be a junior stylist, including teamwork, health and safety, functional skills and communication.

What are my career opportunities?

Several students go straight into employment after successfully completing the course.

Further Study?

Further study of specialist skills at level 3.

Are there any extra costs?

Uniform (approx £60) and kit (approx. £150) are required for this course.Plus £40 for trips & visits.
