Beauty is big business in the UK, with some 16,000 outlets ranging from nail bars to spas and fully appointed beauty salons. Beauty VRQ level 2 will provide you with the skills you need to progress to level 3 or employment. You will develop practical skills in facials, eye treatments, waxing, make up , manicure and pedicure. All learning is hands-on, and day-to-day salon experience will help you develop excellent customer service skills and supervisory skills through the salon manager role and reception duty. As part of the course, you will visit a professional beauty show in London and have the opportunity to showcase your skills in our 30th Hair & Beauty Awards evening. The functional skills aspect will ensure that you have the right standards for the workplace.

What do I need?

Grade D in English and Maths and a mixture of GCSE grades E to G or relevant Level 1 qualification.

How will I be assessed?

Practical assessments are carried out on paying clients in our commercial workshops. Essential knowledge is covered through project research and written assessments.

What will I learn?

Skin care, facials, eye treatments, waxing, manicure and pedicure; make up, reception, health and safety, tanning, ear piercing, lash perming and nail art.

What are my career opportunities?

Working as a beauty therapist in spas, salons, cruise liners, professional trade representative, self-employed or mobile therapist.

Further Study?

Progression to Level 3 in Beauty Therapy (General) or Spa Therapy, or level 2 Hairdressing.

Are there any extra costs?

Uniform (approx. £60) and kit (approx. £140) are required. Course fees and registration may be applicable for students over 19.Plus £40 for trips & visits.
