About this Course
The sport and leisure industry is experiencing an explosion of interest thanks to the London 2012 Olympic Games, with direct opportunities in training, coaching and leadership as well as spin-off enthusiasm for sports across the country. You could become a coach, fitness instructor, youth worker, run outdoor expeditions or be involved in organising and leading sports events.
The Level 1 BTEC Certificate in Sport and Active Leisure introduces the sport and active leisure industry whilst giving you an understanding of healthy lifestyle, the importance of participation in sport and active leisure, how the active body works and developing your knowledge of fitness. The course also ensures you have the right English, Maths and ICT skills for the workplace.
As well as putting learning into practice in our leading edge gym, you’ll benefit from links with sports and leisure businesses to get a better understanding of the sector through visits, observations, interviews, guest speakers and work shadowing.

A mixture of grades E to G at GCSE.
