Are you already trained as a decorator? Have you achieved a level 2 qualification? The industry recognised level 3 Diploma in Painting & Decorating extends the abilities of those that are trained as decorators at level 2 making it possible to undertake more complex work. It is currently the highest level of qualification for a practical craft based skill. The course is about 60% practical, with topics including applying paint systems by brush and roller, applying complex hangings to walls and ceilings, prodcution of specialist decorative finishes, carrying out specialist architectural feature work and applying water-borne paint systems using airless spray equipment.

What do I need?

Five GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths or an appropriate level 2 qualification.

How will I be assessed?

Assessments are conducted through unit-based test papers and one on-line test. Practical skills are assessed during a 32 hour practical assignment.

What will I learn?

Practical skills acquired at level 2 will be developed and new skills relating to supervision and organisation will be introdcued.

What are my career opportunities?

Students achieving this qualification are able to enter straight into employment in industry and undertake more complex activities and perform supervisory roles.

Further Study?

A work-based NVQ or advanced apprenticeship or HNC in construction at level 4.

Are there any extra costs?

A range of specified PPE and other items, costing approximately £85, will be required for this course.
