Are you already trained as a site carpenter?  Do you want to add more complex skills to your range? The industry-recognised level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry extends the abilities of those who are trained in basic site carpentry, making it possible to undertake more complex projects. It is currently the highest level of qualification for a practical craft-based skill. The course is about 60% practical, and topics include quantities, erecting complex structural carcassing components, maintenance, set-up and use of fixed and transportable machinery, and construction of a traditional hipped roof and dormer. You will also have the opportunity to develop your organisational and management skills, and the course will bring you up to date on the latest methods regarding energy efficiency and sustainability.

What do I need?

Five GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths or an appropriate level 2 qualification. Satisfactory completion of your existing studies.Satisfactory completion of your existing studies.

How will I be assessed?

Constructive feedback for practical and theory work, plus formal written assessment at the end of each unit and a final synoptic test.

What will I learn?

Skills acquired at Level 2 will be developed, and new skills relating to supervision and organisation will be introduced.

What are my career opportunities?

Students achieving this qualification are able to enter the industry and undertake more complex activities and  perform supervisory roles.

Further Study?

A work-based qualification such as an NVQ or advanced apprenticeship. A degree or HNC at level 4 is also possible.

There may be an additional cost for PPE (personal protective equipment) and writing/drawing materials.
