The Construction Industry employs 7% (over 2.1 million) of the UK’s work force, either as operatives, skilled craftsmen or professionals such as site managers, surveyors, architects and architectural technologists. This course will give you an in-depth understanding of the design, planning, construction and maintenance processes, as well as the factors that shape and influence building projects, including Building Regulations, new technologies and sustainability. Our fantastic site facilities will enable you to see from the sharp end how the different strands of the industry slot together, and you will get the chance to add further skills or a qualification in a specialist topic. The course also includes wider skills such as Maths, English and CAD, and students are required to produce a piece of industry-related project work.

What do I need?

Five GCSEs at grade C or above including English and Maths or an appropriate level 2 qualification.

How will I be assessed?

Through calendared assignments covering 18 Units spread throughout the 2 year programme to meet the awarding body criteria with a maximum of 90 points awarded for each completed unit.

What will I learn?

A range of 18 units, from sustainable construction to project.

What are my career opportunities?

Employment in the construction industry as architectural technologists, assistant surveyors, trainee building control officers and trainee site agents.
