The industry-recognised level 2 Diploma in Bricklaying provides the knowledge and skills needed to become qualified – and thanks to a current shortage of skilled bricklayers, you will find yourself in demand. The course is about 60% practical, and covers topics including teamwork, building methods and technology, using working drawings, thin-joint construction, cavity and solid walling, and isolated and attached piers. The course is designed in consultation with the construction sector, so you will gain the breadth of skills you need to head straight into employment. The practical work is carried out at our fantastic facilities, where you will see how bricklaying meshes together with other construction trades, giving you a flavour of your future workplace.

What do I need?

Grade C in English and Maths and a mixture of grade Ds and Es or relevant Level 1 qualification.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed continually throughout your course. Constructive feedback from your tutor will help you to improve and progress towards recognised industrial standards.

What will I learn?

How to approach and carry out a range of brick and blockwork tasks in a professional manner.

What are my career opportunities?

Successful students can enter employment as an improver bricklayer, or learn as they earn with an apprenticeship or NVQ.

The level 3 Diploma is the next-level qualification.
