Child, Health & Social Care Department
Health, child and social care is all about helping people live their lives, whether that’s providing treatment for patients, helping offenders rehabilitate, offering lively, nurturing child care or assisting people with daily tasks in their own homes. The work is rewarding and gives you the chance to make a living whilst making a difference to someone else’s life.
If you’re a caring, respectful individual you’ll find numerous career options on your doorstep. The NHS is the biggest employer in the country, with over 300 careers to pick from. Care homes for the elderly and for people with learning disabilities also employ many local people. And child care jobs are plentiful, thanks to government initiatives to help parents into work.
Our health, child and social care courses will give you a rich mix of practical skills and knowledge. All courses feature a work placement, so you’ll get the chance to put your new skills to the test. Each course also includes Paediatric First Aid, a valuable addition to your training – and your CV. Apprenticeships and Advanced Apprenticeships are open in both Child Care and Health & Social Care, so once you’ve started work, you can take your training further.
