Advanced Diploma Society, Health & Development

PDF

Course code: 2475
Course type: Full time
Duration: 2 years
Level: 3
Site: Station Plaza
Start date: September 2011

Do you want a career where you’re making a direct difference to people’s lives? If so, you’ll find countless opportunities in the sectors which care for and support individuals, families, groups, communities and society. You could be providing vital care so an elderly person can stay in their own home, helping to rehabilitate offenders through the Probation Service, or providing lively, nurturing day care for under 5’s – and many more.

The Advanced Diploma in Society, Health and Development will allow you to explore in depth the four sectors of Health, Care, Early Years and Criminal Justice. You will study how the four sectors work in partnership to provide services. Topics will include personal and professional development, communication and information sharing, and safeguarding and protecting individuals, which you will demonstrate in your work placement.

Mandatory work experience in a care setting is a valuable part of this course and we can help set this up for you. Working in partnership with other groups will allow you to develop your communication and teamwork skills and to contribute to the wider community through the completion of a team event.

This course will ensure you have the right standard of Maths, English and ICT to excel in the workplace. The Advanced Diploma is equivalent to three and a half A Levels, so depending on your grade you can use it to progress to further study at university.

What do I need?

Four grade A-Cs at GCSE including English at C or an appropriate level 2 qualification.

Where does it lead?

Into work in roles such as care assistant or nursery worker or on to degree study in, for example, social work, teaching, nursing or criminology.
