Working with children and young people is one of the most rewarding ways to make a living. The Diplomas in Child Care and Education will open the door to many careers in the area, ranging from play work and child-minding to teaching and nursing.

The Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education will prepare you to work unsupervised or in a supervisory capacity with children (0-16 years) and their families in a variety of settings. Possible jobs are Early Years Practitioner, Crèche Practitioner, Special Needs Support Worker or Nanny.

The course is a mix of theory and work-based experience, for which you will be required to complete a CRB check. You will learn about child development and education, how to support and keep children safe and professional skills necessary for working with children in a variety of job roles and settings. You will have to complete written assignments, portfolios, a short answer test, a research task plus a portfolio of work to support professional practice.

The fact that you will be doing much of your learning in a child care setting will give you the best possible start to a career path in child care and education.

What do I need?

Four grade A-Cs at GCSE including English or an appropriate level 2 qualification.

Higher Education in a related area or into work as a nanny or in a nursery/crèche setting.
