BTEC Level 1 Diploma Health & Social Care

PDF

Course code: 7851
Course type: Full time
Duration: 1 year
Level: 1
Site: Station Plaza
Start date: September 2011

Health and social care jobs place you at the sharp end of making a difference to someone else’s life. In health care, you might be providing or supporting treatment for patients in a hospital, local surgery or out in the community. Social care workers help people maintain their independence and lead fuller lives, by providing support with everyday tasks. By making a difference to someone else's life, you’ll find you make a difference to yours too.

The BTEC Level 1 Diploma in Health and Social Care will introduce you to different roles in the health and social care sector and the skills and knowledge they require. The course will enable you to develop practical skills in preparation for work and NVQ training and will get your English, Maths and ICT skills up to a good standard for the workplace.

Topics include: the role of the carer at mealtimes, creative activities for children, and creative and leisure activities for adults in health and social care. You will also focus on other skills you’ll need for work, such as communication, teamwork, time management and creativity.

So that you can see Health and Social Care at close range, the course includes plenty of visits as well as guest speakers. You’ll also get to learn in a practical setting on a work placement, an essential part of the course for which you’ll need a CRB check. We can help set this up for you.
