Do you want a career where you’re making a direct difference to people’s lives? If so, you’ll find countless opportunities in the sectors which care for and support individuals, families, groups, communities and society. You could be providing vital care so an elderly person can stay in their own home, helping to rehabilitate offenders through the Probation Service, or providing lively, nurturing day care for under 5’s – and many more.

The Higher Diploma in Society, Health and Development will introduce you to the work and values of the Health, Care, Early Years and Criminal Justice sectors, investigating how they work in partnership to provide services. You will examine topics including: disability, safeguarding individuals, healthy living and health care, antisocial behaviour, and supporting children and young people.

You’ll also carry out an individual project on a topic of personal interest linked to your studies as well as getting your Maths, English and ICT ready for the workplace. Work experience in a care setting is a valuable and mandatory part of the course and we can help set this up for you.

What do I need?

Two grade Ds (including English) and two grade Es at GCSE or relevant Level 1 qualification.

Where does it lead?

Advanced Diploma in Society, Health and Development or other Level 3 courses depending on your grades.
