Working with children and young people is one of the most rewarding ways to make a living. The Diplomas in Child Care and Education will open the door to many careers in the area, ranging from play work and child-minding to teaching and nursing.

The Level 2 Diploma in Child Care and Education will prepare you to work in a supervised capacity with children (0-16 years) and their families in a variety of settings. Possible jobs are Early Years Assistant in a Children's Centre, Pre-school Assistant, Nursery Assistant or Special Education Needs Assistant.

The course is a mix of theory and work-based experience, for which you will be required to complete a CRB check. You will gain an understanding of the role of the child care practitioner in the workplace, learning about working with children, how children develop and play, and how to keeping them in a safe, healthy, nurturing environment. You will have to complete written assignments, portfolios, a short answer test, a research task plus a portfolio of work to support professional practice.

The fact that you will be doing much of your learning in a child care setting will give you the best possible start to a career path in child care and education.

Two grade Ds (including English) and two grade Es at GCSE or relevant Level 1 qualification.
