How do you sort out a dispute?  What powers do the police have? How does the prison system work? A level Law is a fascinating subject that will allow you to explore all these questions and more, and should appeal to all those with an interest in social justice. In the first year you will explore how laws are made, the institutions of the English legal system, and the roles of the people working within it such as solicitors, barristers and judges. In the second year you will study criminal law in more depth, including homicide and a range of torts such as negligence and nuisance. You will also consider concepts such as morality and justice. Apart from an understanding of legal methods, the course helps develop analytical and problem-solving skills, together with precision in communication.
