The BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) is a specialist vocational programme with a strong work related emphasis. Edexcel is one of the leading examining and awarding bodies in the UK and throughout the world. It incorporates all the qualifications previously awarded under the Edexcel and Tec brand The qualification provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required in the sector with national recognition by employers allowing progression direct into employment or to degree. The programme is over two years one afternoon and evening per week. The course is taught by experienced academic staff, many of whom have a background in industry. Their knowledge is invaluable at bringing this course to life and giving you the best balance of theory with practical application. You will be assessed by a carefully selected mix of assignments, presentations, in-class tests.

• You will start the Research Project that will continue into year 2

Year 2

• Managing Communications knowledge and Information

• Personal Professional Development
• Research Project

There is scope to consider specialist units if demand exists.

Entry Requirements

Applicants will normally have a GCE A level profile which demonstrates strong performance in a relevant subject or an adequate performance in more than one GCE subject or an Advanced GNVQ or a BTEC National Certificate or equivalent. A G.C.S.E English Grade C or IELTS 6.0 is also required. Those without formal qualifications but with the appropriate work experience are encouraged to apply.

You will learn about key aspects of business including finance, operations and IT, using real business problems and case studies. You will also have the opportunity to study specific business sectors such as marketing, human resources, planning, organisation and legal issues affecting business.

The practical nature of the course ensures you will develop a range of skills and knowledge that are directly relevant to the realities of today’s business environment.
