About this course
The course offers a comprehensive range of practical design modules delivered by leading Graphic Design practitioners, geared towards a balance of industry skills and creative development, with a focus on real world design and providing you with the wide spectrum of skills you need to succeed. Our students regularly win national and international design awards, achieve work placements and employment with respected design agencies in London, New York and Hong Kong, or progress towards freelance work or founding their own busy agencies.
You will also benefit from the College's membership with Design & Art Direction (D&AD), close links with the Young Creative Network (YCN) and connections with professional design consultancies in Hastings, Brighton and London.

Entry requirements
Entry is open to students of 18 years and over. Individual offers may vary. UCAS tariff: 120 points, from a minimum of one 6-unit qualification in G/VCE Art and Design or BTEC National Awards in Art and Design. International Baccalaureate: Individual assessment. QAA-approved access course: Acceptable, subject-specific units. GCSE (minimum grade C): A good profile. For non-native speakers of English: IELTS 6.0 overall, 6 in writing. Other: Applicants must be 18 or over and have achieved one of the following qualifications: Diploma in Foundation Studies in Art and Design, Advanced GNVQ in Art and Design, BTEC National Diploma in Art and Design or related subject. In some circumstances applicants with at least one A-level pass with supporting passes at GCSE grades A, B, or C may be considered. Applicants lacking the specified minimum entry requirements may demonstrate by other means, at interview, that they have the requisite qualities for study at foundation degree level. Application for Accreditation of Prior (experiential) Learning will also be considered.
Areas of study
We cover a broad introduction to Graphic Communication in Year 1, with modules such as Ideas Generation, Typography, Design for Web and Communicating with Images, including illustration and photography and Cultural and Critical studies.
Career and progression opportunities
Graduates usually either progress to employment within the south-east region and London in graphic design consultancies or opt to undertake an additional year to gain an honours degree. This additional year, offered at Sussex Coast College Hastings, is subject to interview.
