Level 2
On this Apprenticeship, the sort of work you’ll be doing will depend on your employer. Generally, engineering Apprentices will learn to take on an operator role in a certain area of engineering. This could involve anything from assembling car engines to installing telecommunications systems. Most duties will involve the maintenance of equipment and machinery.
Level 3
Through the Advanced Apprenticeship you can become either a skilled craftsperson (skilled in practical trades, like fi tting or machining) or a technician (involved in technical matters and problem-solving). Working in this fi eld requires a good head for fi gures and IT literacy. You’ll need good written and verbal communication skills; and you’ll have to be a team player.
What will I gain?
A nationally recognised qualifi cation in your chosen career.(To include NVQ L2, Technical Cert, Key Skills AON, Comms, IT & wider Key Skills @ Level 1 and 2, ERR).
Who is it for?
An Apprentice working in an operator role within your company’s area of engineering to include: assembling car engines, metal casting, servicing lifts or telecommunications. (Please discuss with your Tutor for further details)
What will I study?
How to work safely within an engineering environment, communicate technical information, and how to identify engineering equipment. You will need a good head for fi gures, IT, & good written skills and communication.
How is work assessed?
You will attend college one day/two days a week and your work will be assessed through observation and by building a portfolio of evidence.
What can it lead to?
To move onto the Level 3 to become a trainer or skilled craftsperson/technician.
How do I get onto the course?
Interview required for admission onto the course, plus confi rmation of full-time employment.
