This Apprenticeship gives people a fulfilling opportunity to work with children and young people while also gaining an understanding of their development. Equally, it ensures candidates put childcare theory into practice.

Level 2

As an Apprentice, the exact nature of your job role will depend on your employer. The Level 2 Apprenticeship is for those working under supervision such as nursery assistants or playgroup assistants working with children under fi ve or an assistant playworker in an out of school setting.

Level 3

Advanced Apprenticeship is for those who work on their own initiative, planning and organising their own work and/or supervising others, for example, a nursery nurse, playgroup leader or a childminder working in their own home.

After successful completion of this Apprenticeship there’s good scope for progression. You may move up through levels of work, for example, from nursery assistant to nursery manager. There are also opportunities to undertake further training or assessment.

What will I gain?
A nationally recognised qualification in your chosen career. To include NVQ L2, Cerificate, Key Skills @ L1, ERR & Paediatric 1st aid Certificate).

Who is it for?
Apprentices working with children 0-16, in any childcare establishment such as schools, crèches, nurseries & playgroups.
What will I study?
How to care for, and the development of infants & children of all ages as well as; diet, importance of play, social & emotional skills and safety. You need to be dedicated and committed to your job and determined to succeed.

How is work assessed?
You may attend college one day a week and your work will be assessed through observation in the workplace and by building a portfolio of evidence.

What can it lead to?
A Level 3 supervisory role and then onto possible higher education.

How do I get onto the course?
Interview required for admission onto the course, plus confirmation of full-time employment. (A CRB check will also be required).
