Level 2

This Apprenticeship covers a range of occupations within hospitality and catering, one of the largest industries in the country. Hospitality and catering covers work in restaurants, hotels and holiday accommodation, cafés, pubs, and contract caterers – it also supplies other industries with food and drink. Schools, colleges, hospitals and large businesses nearly always have canteens and catering staff, too. To refl ect the many career options on offer, this Apprenticeship has several pathways. If you’re interested in working ‘front of house’, you could train as waiting staff and learn how to serve customers, or train in drinks service – one of the fastest growing sub-sectors.

Level 3

Successful completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship could lead to management or supervisory roles.

What will I gain?
A nationally recognised qualifi cation in your chosen career. A Tech Cert. (To include NVQ L2, Key Skills @ L1 and ERR).

Who is it for?
An Apprentice who is assisting in kitchens large and small, such as pubs, restaurants or even the NHS or other large organisations.

What will I study?
How to prepare and serve different ingredients and dishes in a professional manner, as well as the health and safety aspects of working in a kitchen environment.

How is work assessed?
You will attend college one day a week and your work will be assessed through observation and by building a portfolio of evidence.

What can it lead to?
To Level 3 to do Professional cookery which could lead to a role of head chef or other supervisory roles.

How do I get onto the course?
Interview required for admission onto the course, plus confi rmation of full-time employment.
