Level 2
In the construction industry it is not just about painting and decorating a room in a house. A painter and decorator could paint large structures like road bridges or railway bridges, spray paint walls in factories or schools; skilfully apply gold leaf to ornate fi xtures in a stately home or restore neglected buildings.
What will I gain?
A nationally recognised qualifi cation in your chosen career. (To include NVQ L2, Diploma, Key Skills @ Level 1 & an ERR).
Who is it for?
For an Apprentice working with a variety of materials such as paint, varnish & wallpaper.
What will I study?
How to prepare surfaces, wallpaper & paint stripping, applying base coats & fi nishes (including gold leaf) in both modern and historic buildings. Match colours & apply paints using a variety of methods for industrial and commercial properties.
How is work assessed?
You will attend college one day a week and your work will be assessed through observation and by building a portfolio of evidence.
What can it lead to?
To be able to use your skills in both the construction industry and private sector. Good communication skills are essential.
How do I get onto the course?
Interview required for admission onto the course, plus confi rmation of full-time employment. (PPE and kit will be required for this course).
