Carol service

Staff, students and parents from UCH and SCCH embraced the Christmas spirit and joined voices at Trinity Church on 8 December for a carol service and some hearty singing.

The SCCH carol service was a great success this year with over a hundred people filling Holy Trinity Church in the town centre.  The service combined readings and carols with music, including an instrumental quartet, two African songs from students at Academy 6 and touching renditions of Santa Lucia and Silent Night by students from the Supported Education Department.  The guest speaker was Bishop Wallace Benn, who spoke humorously about the versions of Christmas advertisers try to ‘sell’ us and encouraged remembrance of Christ’s birth.  He spoke positively about the opening of the college and the new beginning it represents for the town.  SCCH aims to support students and staff alike in their diverse spiritual traditions. As chaplain, the Revd Richard Mortimer, is available to help or point you to someone who can. You can reach him on  07930 887 483
