A Mother's Voice

Our play 'A Mother's Voice' by Chris Owen will be opening on Wednesday 2nd December and Thursday 3rd December at 7pm at Filsham Valley School.

We are pleased to introduce the first year students to you performing such a challenging play as 'A Mother’s Voice'. They have worked very hard and have created a remarkable and thought-provoking response to the issues raised.

This play highlights the plight of the people living in a South American Country under a repressive and destructive dictatorship. At this time, people were ’disappeared’ if they dare to speak out against the government.

These people were often tortured, raped and killed for information leading to the arrest of another. There was no evidence of their whereabouts and no trace ever found of their bodies.

The performing arts students have dealt with this production with maturity and sensitivity. On researching the events surrounding the play it became obvious how horrific the times were in countries such as Argentina and Chile in the 1970's-1990's.
