Based at Ore Valley the Business division provides opportunities to develop management, public relations and customer service skills, as well as marketing techniques and financial, accounting, legal and enterprise know-how.

Facilities and features

External visits and guest speakers complement the considerable industry experience of division staff. Learners have access to state-of-the-art IT facilities and in-house conferencing facilities at Station Plaza. They can study retail and enterprise close-up in the customer-facing businesses that operate out of the college atrium, including a shop, coffee bars and hair salon.

Progression routes

Successful students progress from Level 1 to advanced Level 3 and the majority of Level 3 National Diploma students go on to study a range of courses at university, including BSc (Hons) Computing, Internet, Business Systems to BA (Hons) in Business, Marketing and Law. Other students gain employment as apprentices, computer technicians, software developers and system analysts, working for organisations from accountants to advertising agencies and from the NHS to the police.

Success stories

Karina worked hard to produce excellent work for her BTEC First Diploma in Business – she has now put that to good use and been appointed as an Apprentice at Rye College where she will continue her studies with the Work Based Learning Unit.

Charlotte started at the college at 16 on the ILEX Legal Secretaries Certificate. Having achieved excellent grades she progressed onto gain her Advanced BTEC National Diploma in Business and has now won a place at university to study a combined Business Hons Degree.
